With all the DC TV and Marvel series have come to it’s finales, we are stuck here with nothing to watch (except if you want to watch the replay, it’s fine with me). But before you go berserk and rampage a whole city, which would be unnecessary, let’s look at the new additions to our watch list for the next season.
Be warned, this post is going to contain DC and Marvel TV shows only. I will not include shows such as Game of Thrones and Dr. Who ’cause I don’t watch those kinds of shows. So don’t expect me to drop names or theories on other shows.
1. Marvel’s The Inhumans
Release Date: September 1, 2017 on ABC

Cast: Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton, and Sonya Balmores as Auran. Ellen Woglom’s role is still unknown up to this moment.
The Plot: “After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.”
When the Inhumans TV was announced, it was immediately stated that the TV series will not be a replacement for the film. Also, it will not be spin-off show of Agents of SHIELD. The show will be first shown in theaters worldwide before it will be moved in ABC, every Friday nights.
2. Marvel’s The Punisher
Release Date: November 2017 on Netflix

The Plot: After the murder of his family, Frank Castle is both haunted and hunted. In the criminal underworld, he’ll become known as ‘The Punisher’.
Frank Castle debut in the MCU back in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, where he became one of the antagonists Murdock faced in the first half of the season. Also, It was also teased back in the second season of SHIELD that Skye worked with a fellow hacktivist in the Rising Tide. Then later, Micro was also teased at the finale of Daredevil before he burned down his house, Frank took a CD which has the name MICRO on it.
3. CW’s Black Lightning
Release Date: Early Mid-Season in 2018 on CW

Cast: Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie, Friday Night Lights) as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, Nafessa Williams (Code Black) as Anissa Pierce, China Anne McClain (House of Payne) as Jennifer Pierce and Christine Adams (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Lynn Pierce.
The Plot: Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero to his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning.
However, after too many nights with his life on the line, and seeing the effects of the damage and loss that his alter ego was inflicting on his family, he left his Super Hero days behind and settled into being a principal and a dad. Choosing to help his city without using his superpowers, he watched his daughters Anissa and Jennifer grow into strong young women, even though his marriage to their mother, Lynn, suffered. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, and those he cares about in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.
Originally, the show wold be aired in FOX. But then the network suddenly refused saying that the show is not a good fit for the network for they already have a crowded comic book line up this coming Fall. Good thing, CW is eyeing to take the show under its wings. Unfortunately, the show will not be tied up to the Arrowverse. So, we won’t be seeing a five way crossover event this fall for Black Lightning doesn’t exist in the Arrowverse.
Release Date: Sometime in 2018 on DC’s untitled streaming service
Producers: Akiva Goldsman (Transformers: The Last Knight, Underground, A Beautiful Mind), Geoff Johns (President of DC Entertainment & Films, The Flash), Greg Berlanti, (The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow) and Sarah Schechter (The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow). The pilot was written by Goldsman, Johns and Berlanti.
Cast: TBA – David Rapaport (The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale, Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow) is attached as casting director.
The Plot: Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.
5. Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger
Release Date: Early 2018 on Freeform

Cast: Aubrey Joseph (The Night Of) as Ty Johnson a.k.a. Cloak, Olivia Holt (Kickin’ It) as Tandy Bowen a.k.a. Dagger, Andrea Roth (Blue Bloods) as Melissa Bowen, Gloria Reuben (ER) as Adina Johnson, Miles Mussenden (Bloodline) as Michael Johnson, James Saito (Life of Pi) as Dr. Bernard Sanjo, J.D. Evermore (True Detective) as Detective Connors and Carl Lundstedt (Conviction) as Liam.
The Plot: Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging
Back at 2011, Loeb revealed in Comic-Con that Marvel Television and ABC Family (now Freeform) is developing a Cloak and Dagger pilot based on this comic book material. Since then, there were no news on the television series until six years later, Freeform announced a straight-to-series order for the TV series with ten episodes order.
6. Marvel’s The Defenders
Release Date: August 18, 2017 on Netflix

Cast: Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Élodie Yung as Elektra Natchios and Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra.
The Plot: Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”
Unlike other Marvel/Netflix series, The Defenders will only have eight episodes. Also, the events in the show would run for 48 hours only.
7. Marvel’s The Runaways
Release Date: Early 2018 on Hulu

The Plot: Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? “Marvel’s Runaways” is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe–their parents.
The Runaways was originally going to be adapted as a film back in 2008 when the first MCU movie was released. Brian K. Vaughan, the co-creators of the teen group, wrote a screenplay for the studio with Kevin Feige to be the executive producer. Then, two years later, Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) was in talks to direct the film adaptation. Two months later after the Sollett report, Drew Pearce, who ended up co-writing Iron Man 3 script with Shane Black was later hired to make a new Runaways draft for Marvel Studios.
But back in October 2014, when the announcement for Phase 3 happened, The Runaways was not on the list. When asked by the press, Feige replied that the movie was always being talked about during the film and television discussions and also stated that for the mean time, the production was placed on a hold. Now, two years later, in August 2016, Schwartz and Savage was revealed to be in talks with the studio to try and develop the material to be adapted for television. as Hulu gave a pilot order and on May 2017 it was given a series pick-up.
8. The Gifted
Release Date: October 2, 2017 on Fox

The Plot: The Gifted tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Reed and Caitlin Strucker are typical middle-class parents dealing with the realities of raising a family. However, when their teenage kids, Lauren and Andy, are involved in an incident at their high school which reveals they are mutants, Reed and Caitlin do all in their power to protect their children. Forced to go on the run, the Struckers must leave behind their old lives to flee from a relentless government agency that tracks down mutants, the Sentinel Services, which includes Agent Jace Turner. Complicating matters further is the fact that Reed is a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office tasked with going after mutants.
Desperate and running low on options, the family’s only choice is to contact an underground network that helps mutants in trouble. The mutants in the network – Eclipse/Marcos Diaz, Blink/Clarice Fong, Polaris/Lorna Dane and Thunderbird/John Proudstar – are dealing with their own issues. With one of their members in prison and their team possibly compromised, they face an uncertain future in a world that looks increasingly dangerous for mutants. The Gifted is a story of survival, a story of mutants coming to terms with who they are, a story of parents accepting the fact that their kids aren’t who they thought they were and loving them just the same – even if all of their lives are at risk because of it
Originally, FOX were working on a Hellfire Club series last 2015 but it was scrapped and was replaced by a new one which is The Gifted. The show is set on the studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe although it will only be revealed during the show on what timeline they exists. Also, Nix hinted that he was given permission t use certain mutants such as Polaris, Blink, and Thunderbird. This will be FOX’s second TV series in association with Marvel Television and hopefully it will be as successful as FX’s Legion which is also set in the X-Men franchise and would be having their second season next year.
Release Date: Sometime on 2018 on Syfy
Producer(s): David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow). Kindler, who serves as the show-runner, co-wrote the teleplay with Goyer, based on a story by Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time).

The Plot: Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Back in May 2016, before Syfy officially announces the pilot order for Krypton, Goyer revealed that the story would set 200 years before the events of Man of Steel and confirms that the TV series will tie in with DC Extended Universe. This is the first DC TV that will be connected to the films for the other DC TV that are on air are currently not related with the Extended Universe. There are no confirmation on how many episodes it will run but hopefully it will be 10013 episodes, Syfy Channel standard.
10. Marvel’s New Warriors
Release Date: Sometime in 2018 on Freeform

Cast: TBA – the series will star Doreen Green a.k.a. Squirrel Girl, along with Craig Hollis a.k.a. Mister Immortal, Dwayne Taylor a.k.a. Night Thrasher, Robbie Baldwin a.k.a. Speedball, Zack Smith a.k.a. Microbe and Deborah Fields a.k.a. Debrii.
The Plot: Marvel’s New Warriors is about six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, “Marvel’s New Warriors” is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.
The New Warriors is set in Freeform next year and at first it was announced last year in August by ABC Studios and Marvel Television hoping to make a New Warriors comedy series with Squirrel Girl to cable and streaming services. Seven months later, the studio gave a series order and a ten episode order to the series. Although it is still unknown if the series will be released together with Cloak and Dagger.
