Countdown Friday: Top 10 Weapons feat. Bladed Weapons

Good day to all of you! It’s Countdown Friday again and today we are going to have a series countdown. We would be having series of countdowns from this and two Fridays from now. Our topic? We would be counting down several weapons from the nerd world and when I say nerd world like comic books, TV show franchises, Movie franchises, and video game franchises. On this day, we will be looking at bladed weapons. In this list, we’ll be featuring bladed weapons from different franchises and how badass they are and how functional they are in the battlefield.
Before I start, please do subscribe on my blog and follow me on my other social media accounts:

10. Scorpion’s Kunai, Mortal Kombat series
GET OVER HERE!!! Whenever you here that line, better get out of the way ‘cuz you probably might get caught to this bloody spear. A kunai is Japanese dagger used by a ninja and can be very dangerous. But hand it over to a vengeful man who has been ressurected from the dead and connects it on a chain, well better say your prayers for you are about to die. Hanzo Hasashi or also known by another name, Scorpion, uses this weapon as to draw enemies near to him and destroy them with his sick martial arts moves. This weapon has been with Scorpion since the start of the Mortal Kombat series and became his trademark. The kunai is connected to a chain so whenever he throws it to an enemy, he can pull him closer or set them on hell fire. This weapon is one badass weapon if you know how to wield it.

9.  Blades of Chaos, God of War series
Another weapon of a mad man. This blade is the weapon of the Spartan warrior Kratos which he uses to kill everyone he hates or is in his way. Originally, Ares made the blades for his servant that would prove worthy of his service. These blades were the first pair of chained blades that Kratos used in the God of War series. The Blades of Chaos were a pair of chained blades fashioned by the God of War, Ares.

8. The Rebellion, Devil May Cry series
Dante’s Rebellion. A broadsword that his father, Sparda, gave to him. It may seem an ordinary blade but when it has made contact to Dante’s blood, well better get out of the way. Dante has used the blade numerous times and became his trademark weapon, along with Ebony and Ivory. The blade was give to Dante for keepsake and it has served Dante as his primary weapon. Although it may look like a claymore, but the sword has it’s magical properties.

7. The Excalibur, King Arthur
The iconic sword of the greatest king of all time, King Arthur. He had led his men through many wars using this sword. It was said that the sword was forged with dragon’s fire. The blade consists magical properties and has been Arthur’s sword wever since. Throughout the years, we’ve seen many reincarnations of the sword and one is from Disney’s The Sword In The Stone which features a young Arthur under the wing of Merlin who is training him on how to be king. In the process, Arthur draws out the sword in the stone and England crowns him as king. But this year, we are going to see another reinvention of the origin of King Arthur and his sword. It is entitled King Arthur and the Legend of The Sword which we’ll see a young and reckless Arthur who draws Excalibur and becomes king. Well, I hope they do some justice on the film and o the source material.

6. Chaoseater, Darksiders
Wielded by the Horseman War. This huge broadsword is his primary weapon. The sword feeds on everything chaotic, hence the name. The more violent, the more power it possess. Then, when the energy  is unleashed, it unleashes War’s Chaos Form along with the sword who appears to have fire on its blades. The Red Horseman would use the blade in the judgement wherein there will be a never-ending battle between Heaven and Hell.

5. The Harvester, Darksiders II
Another entry for the Horsemen. The Harvester is Death’s scythe and he made it on the Nephilim crusade. In Darksiders, the Harvester is an unlocakble weapon where you can attain more souls when killing other monsters. In Darksiders II, it is used as a primary weapon by Death. It may look weird from its form and its blade but I tell you, it is useful in any battle given. The Harvester, like its name, harvest souls whenever it is used. So you might want to move away when you see this blade being used. You may not want your soul be entrapped in here and be used as money.

4. Wolverine’s Claws, X-Men franchise
The Adamantium razor-sharp claws of Wolverine. Before they were coated with Adamantium, Logan’s claws are all bone and can slice through any wood and steel. But when he entered the mysterious Weapon X program, Wolverine’s skelton frame were coated with the indestructible metal known as Adamantium. With that in him, Logan can now slice through anything, and when I say everything I mean everything. His claws can be used for slicing and dicing your enemy. Turn them into small pieces and feed them to dogs. It is retractable so you can hide it if not in use. But there is one problem, you can’t remove it from Wolverine’s body. This claws are connected to him and you can’t use it. It’s like the claws are exclusive for Wolverine only.

3. Lightsaber, Star Wars franchise
The weapon of every Jedi Knight, Sith Lord or any Force Sensitive individuals. The lightsaber or some may call it the laser sword consists of a plasma beam that is being powered by kyber crystals and can be emitted in a metal hilt. Unlike the other weapons we’ve featured, in order for one to wield a lightsaber, he or she must have skill and be trained and to be greatly enhanced, one can tap the power of The Force. So if you want to be a Jedi Knight, you must be disciplined and be determined to be one. Just be like Luke Skywalker who trained with the greatest mentors ever. Also, the lightsaber can be used in both offense and defense. The saber can also cut through anything and deflect attacks from blasters. You can also choose from the wide variations that lightsabers has and we can talk about it for the whole day but that’s a topic for another time.

2. Hidden Blade, Assassin’s Creed series

The standard weapon of every Assassin in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and their partner since the early ages. The blade may vary from generation to generation and may feature one unique component from other countries. But the basic components of a hidden blade are the retractable blade, the case, the ring on which the ring finger can operate the blade, and the straps for the wearer. In the series, we’ve seen so many variations of the hidden blade. The blade was used to execute their enemies in public and that’s how they do their assassinations. Throughout history, every Assassin wields this weapon to protect themselves and do assassinations and throughout the franchise we saw different renditions and upgrades of the hidden blade. There’s the double hidden blades of Ezio Auditore da Firenze which has some metal bracers, there’s also the hook blade where Ezio used in Assassin’s Creed Revelations. We also have Arno Dorian’s Phantom Blade in Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Jacob Frye’s hidden blade with gauntlet in Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. But let’s not forget the very first hidden blade that we used in the first Assassin’s Creed game, the one Altair used. It may look different, but the hidden blade is one weapon you want to use in stealth operations. This weapon is one versatile weapon any assassin can ask.

1. Batarang, Batman franchise
Last but not the last, number one! The Batarang! One of Batman’s nifty gadgets. The Batarang has been Batman’s alternative to firearms for it is the one that killed his parents. Throughout the years, the Batarang has been a mainstay in Batman’s utility belt. During his first years it was only a boomerang, a metallic boomerang and looks like a bat that returns to his thrower. Then we get to see some upgrades on he Batarang. Some explodes, some can get electrified, a remote controlled Batarang, a reverse Batarang. Throughout the years, we get to see different designs of the Batarang. No matter what the Batarang looks like, we all love it for one reason, getting bad guys knocked over and getting stunned.

So that’s it for now. I hope you stay tune for next week as we continue our series in our Countdown Friday.

Till next time.
